Perdana Leadership Foundation invites you to join our second cataloguing workshop of 2026; the Workshop on Dewey Decimal Classification (Edition 2024) Scheme for Libraries and Information Centers.
Below are the details of the DDC Workshop:
- Date: 29th June – 1st July 2026
- Time: 7:30 am – 4:30 pm
- Venue: Perdana Leadership Foundation, Putrajaya
This workshop will provide useful training on the Dewey Decimal Classification scheme that will improve the knowledge and skills of librarians and specialist cataloguers. This workshop will be conducted by an experienced librarian and professional trainer with more than 30 years’ experience, Assoc. Prof. (R) Hamidah binti A Rahman, a former lecturer at UiTM.

About Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC)
Dewey Decimal Classification is a system of classifying books and other publications whereby main classes are designated by a 3- digit number and subdivisions are shown by numbers after a decimal point.
The DDC is the most widely used classification system in the world. Libraries in more than 138 countries use the DDC to organize and provide access to their collections, and DDC numbers are featured in the national bibliographies of more than sixty countries. Libraries of every type apply Dewey numbers daily and share these numbers through a variety of means (including WorldCat). Dewey is also used in a variety of applications on the web in support of categorization, browsing, and retrieval.
