Malaysia Comprises fourteen states in South-East Asia which became a political entity and a monarchy on 16th September 1963. Its units were Former British protectorates and colonies- the sovereign Federation of Malaya of nine Malay states and two British settlements which had achieved independence on 31st August 1957, the self- governing island state of Singapore immediately to its south, and the colonies of British North Borneo, now Sabah, and Sarawak, along the North- West coast of Borneo. Certainly, no other federation in modern history was born after such a dramatic series of internal and external misunderstandings, tensions and crises, and finally threats of war from a once-friendly neighbor, Indonesia.
