In Malaysia, the making of foreign policy is the pre-occupation of a few. Public opinion on the subject does exist, but it is not vociferously expressed. Indeed, relations with foreign countries, except in 1964, have not featured significantly in determining election results. this should not be construed to mean that Malaysians are totally unaware of international events that do have important repercussions on the country.
