This work is a popular biography of Muhammad, which deals particularly with the application of his teachings in the modern Muslim world. It is an important contribution to the subject because it show how the character and example of the Prophet remains an enduring precedent for all Muslims and the increasingly complex structure of the modern World. Whilst written from a reverential point of view, it is nevertheless intended also for a Western audience and to clarify many of the misunderstandings and preconceptions held in the West about the subject.
