PERDANA LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION HOSTS 120 TUANKU JAAFAR STUDENTS

The Perdana Leadership Foundation ended the week of 6th November with the 22nd Information Literacy Programme, attended by more than 120 students and teachers from Sekolah Menengah Sains Tuanku Jaafar, Negeri Sembilan. The programme was held at the Perdana Leadership Foundation on the 11th November 2017.
The morning began with a briefing by the Master of Ceremony, Mr Faridzuan, which included an explanation of Perdana Leadership Foundation as well as Malaysia’s past Prime Ministers from Tunku Abdul Rahman to Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. Librarian Ms Afza Rosmi then prepped the students and teachers as to the programme that lay ahead – chiefly, a competitive research and presentation group project based on questions on Malaysian history that the students picked at random.
To make the day more challenging, the students were also tasked to find answers from the Foundation’s website for a Website Quiz throughout the day.
The next three hours were mentally intensive as the students, divided into eight groups, raced against the clock, scouring our library shelves for relevant books, downloading articles, and reading the Foundation’s Visual History timelines, to piece together coherent responses to the questions. At last it was time to present, and each group delivered their findings to a panel of eminent judges who consisted of Prof Dr Syed Noh Ahmad, Puan Fatimah Abu Bakar, and Puan Fatihah Ilyani Jamhari. It wasn’t a one-way track, as the judges and students posed questions to each group presenter.
When the marks were tabulated, the winners were announced, with Group #2 winning the top prize, and Mr Jazhan Kamil being recognised as best presenter! Everyone walked away with a prize, and the top winners walked home with attractive hampers, trophies, and exclusive PLF merchandise. The prizegiving was held in the auditorium, with Senior Executive Ms Maizatul Kartini representing the General Manager, Puan Zarina Abu Bakar.
The event ended with a high-tea buffet before the students headed back to school.
