JUDICIAL MISCONDUCT

In August 1988 Tun Salleh Abas was dismissed as Lord President of the Supreme Court of Malaysia. Two other Supreme Court judges were also dismissed. Not surprisingly the event shook Malaysia’s legal and political scene. In the aftermath of cross accusations, New Zealand’s Peter Walker QC was asked to chair a tribunal to investigate the propriety of the dismissal. This book is Walker’s account of the work of the Tribunal and of his detailed investigation of the affair, including interviews with Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammed and the acting Lord President Tun Abdul Hamid and other major players.
